GigTag

GigTag for solo acoustic performers

You are the whole band, so you cannot be the request desk too.

Solo acoustic work is a run of rooms: a pub on Tuesday, a bar on Thursday, brunch on Sunday. A GigTag on the mic stand does the jobs you cannot do mid-song: it takes requests, takes tips and tells people where you are next.

  • Requests while you play
  • Tips with no cash jar
  • Every room on one page

The problem

Nobody is free to look after the audience

A band can send someone to the bar to explain the set. A solo player is the singer, the guitarist, the sound engineer and the person who has to say no politely to the man who wants Free Bird.

Between the songs you also need to say where you play on Thursday, that you take bookings, and that there is a way to say thank you. That is a lot of talking for the minute between songs.

What GigTag does

One code, four jobs done for you

  1. Pro

A queue you read between songs

Fans send a title from their table. You look at the queue when you are ready and play what fits. A request is a suggestion, and the page says so.

  2. Pro

    Tips with no jar

A tip goes by card or Apple Pay straight into your own account. Send them to the page with a word from the mic, and let them do the rest.

  3. Free

    Your whole week, listed

Add each room as a weekly residency. Anyone who scans sees your next gig first and can add it to their calendar.

  4. Pro

Pro for more than one act

If you also play with a duo, a trio or a band, add it as a second act and switch which one your tag opens before you leave the house.

A night with GigTag

A Thursday in the corner of a bar

The tag is on the mic stand. During the second song a woman at the bar scans, sends a request and adds a tip. You see it at the end of the song and play it, and she waves.

You say one line from the mic about the next gig, and that is all the selling you do. Four people add Thursday's gig to their calendar before the end of the night.

Questions

GigTag for solo acoustic performers: your questions

Do I have to play every request?

No. Every request is a suggestion, and the page says so. You decide what to play.

Is the printed tag necessary?

No. You can design your tag, download the print file and print it yourself, or have one made whenever you are ready (free delivery in Dubai and the UK).

Can I use it in more than one venue?

Yes. The code never changes, and your page shows wherever you are playing next.

What if the venue has its own request system?

Use whichever suits the room. A GigTag is yours and goes with you from room to room.
