Muzeek and GigTag: before the show and during it

However a gig is booked, the night itself comes down to you and the people who turned up. GigTag gives that audience one code to scan for song requests, your next date and a booking enquiry form, in the browser. If you were looking at Muzeek, that is the system for arranging the show. This is the one for playing it.

  • No app for your audience

  • One code that never changes

Why GigTag

What GigTag adds to a gig booked through Muzeek

Muzeek is built for the industry side: offers, holds, contracts and settlements between the people who arrange live music. GigTag is built for the performer once the doors open. It gives you more to take away from each booked night: requests in a live queue, a residency your regulars can save and enquiries from the floor.

  1. 1

A way to keep the audience

A venue's customers are in front of you for one night. A scan lets them follow your socials, open your music links and save your next gig, so they can find you again wherever you play. Muzeek is built to get the show booked. GigTag is how the people at it stay in touch with the act.

  2. 2

    A residency people can keep

List your weekly residency on your page and anyone who scans can add it to their calendar. The tag carries the same code every week. That is what GigTag makes possible for an act with a regular night: an audience that knows exactly when you are back.

  3. 3

    Requests in a live queue

On Pro, the crowd picks from your song list in the browser, or asks for anything if you open requests, and you see each one on your phone between songs. It suits a bar act that changes the set to match the room, and it runs on your phone and theirs.

  4. 4

    Private work, direct to you

The booking enquiry form on your page turns a bar crowd into possible private bookings: birthdays, weddings, company nights. It is on the free plan, enquiries come straight to you, and GigTag takes no commission on bookings. On Pro, your invoice goes out in your own design and is paid online.

  5. 5

    It goes where you go

The tag is yours, not the venue's. One permanent code works in every room you play and keeps working if you rename the act. If you play solo on Friday and as a duo on Saturday, Pro keeps both acts on one account, managed from the same phone.

Muzeek or GigTag

Where GigTag is different from Muzeek

  1. Industry side, audience side

Muzeek connects the people who make a show happen: booker, agent, manager, artist. None of them is the person holding a drink in the third row. GigTag is for that person. They scan the tag on your mic stand, your page opens in the browser, and they can request a song, follow you or see where you play next. No app and no account.

  2. What the calendar is for

A calendar in Muzeek tracks holds and confirmations so a room or an artist is never double booked. The gigs on your GigTag page have a simpler purpose: telling the audience where to find you next. They see your next gig and your weekly residencies and can add them to their own calendar. One calendar is for planning, the other is for filling the next room.

  3. Enquiries from the floor

Muzeek handles offers between professionals. GigTag catches the informal ones: the guest who wants you for a birthday, the manager from the bar down the road. They send a booking enquiry from your page while you are still on stage. You reply from the website or the GigTag app, and on Pro you can invoice the job in your own design and be paid online.

A night with GigTag

A Friday residency in a busy bar

The venue booked you weeks ago and the paperwork is done. Tonight is the part that belongs to you. You set up by the window, put the tag on your mic stand and start the first set. The bar fills. When people begin to listen you point at the tag. They scan it, your page opens in their browsers, and on Pro the requests come through to the live queue on your phone. You fit the popular ones into the second set, when the room is at its fullest.

Your page shows that you play here every Friday. Regulars add the residency to their calendars, and visitors see your other gigs around town. A group celebrating a birthday likes the set enough to send a booking enquiry for a party of their own. A few follow your socials on the way out. You read the enquiry in the GigTag app while the bar staff stack chairs. Next Friday the same tag is back on the same stand, and some of the same faces are back too.

About Muzeek

What is Muzeek?

Muzeek is booking software for the live music industry. Its site addresses the whole chain: venues and nightclubs, promoters, booking agents and agencies, festivals, and artists with their managers. The aim is to automate the steps between an offer and a settled show, so that calendars, contracts, worksheets and payments update from the same booking instead of being retyped in several places.

A venue booker or agent sends a branded offer by email, the other side confirms with one click, and the hold on the calendar becomes a confirmed date. Contracts and run sheets are generated from templates using the deal terms. Settlements and invoices follow, with payment links, and ticket sales can be pulled in from ticketing partners. Event lists and contact forms can be embedded on a website.

How Muzeek works

  1. 1

Send a branded offer. A booker or agent sends an offer from Muzeek to the other party's inbox, carrying the deal terms. The date sits on the calendar as a hold while it is pending.

  2. 2

Confirm in one click. The recipient confirms with a single click and the confirmation feeds back automatically. The hold becomes a confirmed booking on the calendars of everyone on the team.

  3. 3

Generate the paperwork. Contracts, worksheets and run sheets are produced from custom templates, adjusting to the deal terms, so the documents follow the booking without being written from scratch.

  4. 4

Settle and report. Settlements and invoices are created for the booking and shared with payment links. For ticketed events, sales reports can sync from ticketing partners into branded reports.

Who Muzeek is for

  • Venues and nightclubs. Rooms that programme music every week. Its site describes sending offers, tracking holds and confirmations on a calendar, and embedding event lists, flyers and calendars on the venue's website so listings stay current as bookings change.

  • Agencies and rosters. Booking agents handling many artists at once. Its site describes roster management across linked accounts, calendars grouped by roster, links to workflow automation tools and permissions that decide what each member of the team can see.

  • Promoters and festivals. People building line-ups across several dates or stages. Its site lists promoters and festivals among its users, with ticket data flowing into settlement calculations and metrics on how bookings and the team are performing over time.

The verdict

GigTag or Muzeek: which should you choose?

The bottom line

If you are the one performing, choose GigTag. It is made for the performer's side of the night, and its strongest point is that the audience can stay with you after the night, through follows, saved dates and enquiries from one scan. Muzeek is the one to choose if you programme a venue, run an agency or want offers and settlements automated, and a self-managed artist with that paperwork may want both. For the gig itself, bring the tag.

A venue or agent may have no need for a mic stand tag, and a solo act with three gigs a week may have no need for settlement software. But the two can meet at the same show: the venue books you through Muzeek, and you bring your GigTag for the audience. If you manage your own bookings as an artist and want both sides covered, they do not overlap.

  1. Step 1

Let the venue book its way

If a venue or agent uses Muzeek, accept and confirm the offer as they ask you to. That side of the gig is theirs to run.

  2. Step 2

    List the date publicly

Once the date is confirmed, add the gig or weekly residency to your GigTag page, so that your own audience knows where to find you.

  3. Step 3

    Bring the tag

On the night, put the tag on your mic stand and mention it from the stage. Requests, follows and enquiries then come straight to you.

Questions

Muzeek and GigTag: what people ask

Something else? Ask us. A person reads every message.

Is GigTag better than Muzeek for a solo performer?

For performing, yes: GigTag is built for a live act and its audience. A solo performer gets a tag for the mic stand, a page fans open with one scan, requests in a live queue on Pro, a residency listing and a booking enquiry form. Muzeek is built for arranging shows between industry parties. If your need is the night itself, GigTag is the one that addresses it.

What does GigTag give me at a gig that Muzeek is not built for?

A connection with the people in the room. Muzeek's work is done when the show is confirmed and settled. GigTag starts when the audience arrives: they scan the tag, request songs on Pro, save your next gig, follow your links and send booking enquiries, in the browser with no app. It is the audience-facing part of a working act's kit.

Who is Muzeek for?

Its site addresses the live music industry as a whole: venues and nightclubs, promoters, booking agents, agencies, festivals, and artists and managers. It automates booking offers, calendars, contracts, settlements and payments. If you programme a room or manage a roster, that is the work it describes. See its site for plans and prices.

Does GigTag do bookings like Muzeek?

Not in the same sense. Muzeek manages formal offers, contracts and settlements between industry parties. GigTag gives your audience a booking enquiry form on your page, reached by scanning your tag. You answer enquiries yourself and can send invoices on the Pro plan. GigTag is not an agency or marketplace and does not find clients for you.

My venue books me through Muzeek. Can I still use GigTag?

Yes. How a venue books you has no bearing on what you put on your mic stand. Your GigTag is yours: it opens your page, with your song list, your next gigs and your links. It is polite to check the house rules on signage and tipping first, but the tag is small and travels with you from venue to venue.

We are a duo who book ourselves. Muzeek or GigTag?

Start with what you need. If it is offers, contracts and settlements with venues and promoters, look at Muzeek. If it is a way for audiences to request songs, see your dates and enquire about private bookings, that is GigTag. Its free plan covers the tag design, page, links, gigs and enquiry form for one act.

How do I get regulars to come back to my residency?

Tell them when it is, in a form they can keep. GigTag lists weekly residencies on your page, on the free plan. Someone who scans the tag sees that you play the same night each week and can add it to their calendar. The code stays the same, so the tag works every week you are there.

Does the venue need to agree before I use a QR tag on my mic stand?

GigTag does not require anything from the venue: the tag is yours, and the audience uses their own phones. It is still sensible to mention it to whoever booked you, particularly where tips are involved. Tips through GigTag go into your own Stripe or Ziina account, and GigTag takes 0% of them.

Is Muzeek for artists as well as venues?

Its site lists artists and their managers among the people it serves, alongside venues, promoters, agents, agencies and festivals. It describes offers, calendars, contracts, settlements and payments for all of them. If you want to know how it would work for a self-managed act, its site is the place to check.

How do booking enquiries from a gig reach me?

With GigTag, the person scans your tag, opens your page and fills in the booking enquiry form. The enquiry appears in your account, where you can read it on the website or in the GigTag phone app. The form is part of the free plan. What you quote and how you follow up is up to you.
