Stagent and GigTag: one for the promoter, one for the crowd

A set is your one chance to turn a crowd into followers and a party into your next booking. GigTag gives everyone in the room a code to scan for requests, your next date and a booking enquiry form, with no app. If you were looking at Stagent, that covers the deal once it is agreed. This covers the night and the next enquiry.

Why GigTag

What GigTag wins you that Stagent is not built for

Stagent is built to organise confirmed shows: contracts, invoices, riders and travel. GigTag is built to make the show itself count. It hands the audience a way to request, follow and book, so the work you have already agreed can lead to more of it. That is why an act with tidy paperwork still wants a tag.

  1. 1

New enquiries, not only confirmed ones

Stagent's work starts when a show is agreed. GigTag works earlier in the chain: a person at tonight's party scans the tag and sends a booking enquiry for their own. The form is on the free plan and GigTag takes no commission on bookings. It is a new source for the front of your diary.

  2. 2

    A page built for fans

Promoters want riders and press photos. Fans want to know where you play next and how to follow you. GigTag's page gives them your next gig, your residencies, your socials, website and music links, opened from one scan in the browser. It is the public counterpart to the page you send a promoter.

  3. 3

Open requests for a dance floor

On Pro you can keep requests to your song list or open them so the crowd may ask for anything. Each request lands in a live queue on your phone, and you choose what fits. For a DJ with a vocalist or a party band, that is a direct read of the room.

  4. 4

    Invoice the private job yourself

When an enquiry from the tag becomes a booking, GigTag Pro lets you send an invoice in your own design that the client pays online. For the private party or the wedding that came from the floor, the whole path from scan to payment can stay in one place.

  5. 5

    One permanent code, no reprints

The code on your tag never changes, and old links keep working if the act is renamed. You manage the page from the website or the GigTag phone app between flights or between sets. Pro covers more than one act on one account, so a solo project and a band can share it.

In short

Stagent and GigTag, in four lines

  • Stagent is booking and artist management software for agencies and for artists who book themselves.
  • GigTag works during the show: requests in a live queue and enquiries from the floor.
  • Its page is made for fans, opened by one scan, with your next date and your links.
  • Our recommendation: whatever handles your paperwork, add a GigTag for the people in the room.

Side by side

GigTag vs Stagent, topic by topic

Your artist page

GigTag

A fan page with dates, links and requests

Your GigTag page is for fans: next gig, residencies, socials, website and music links, a booking enquiry form and, on Pro, requests.

StagentOne page stores your press pictures, logos, technical riders and biography, and the link is shared with the promoter of each show.

Contracts and invoices

GigTag

Invoices on Pro. Keep Stagent for contracts.

GigTag has invoices on Pro, in your own design and paid online by the client. It does not produce contracts.

StagentIts site describes generating contracts and invoices for clients from each booking, and completing the paperwork electronically without printing or scanning.

Travel to gigs

GigTag

Keep Stagent for travel and itineraries

GigTag plays no part in travel. Its work starts when the tag goes on the stand and the audience begins to scan.

StagentFlight bookings tied to gigs are monitored automatically, and the artist and the team are alerted when an itinerary changes.

The team

GigTag

Band members join, more than one act on Pro

Band members can join the band on GigTag, and the Pro plan allows more than one act on a single account.

StagentAutomated task lists keep the team in the loop, and agencies collaborate across a roster in one shared online platform.

On your phone

GigTag

No app for fans, only a browser

You run GigTag from the website or the GigTag phone app. The audience needs only the browser on their phone.

StagentIts site says Stagent has iOS and Android apps next to the web application, for managing bookings while on the move.

Stagent or GigTag

Where GigTag is different from Stagent

  1. A page for promoters, a page for fans

Stagent gives an artist a page of press photos, riders and biography to send to a promoter. GigTag gives an act a page for the audience. Fans reach it by scanning the tag on your mic stand, and it opens in the browser with no app or account. It shows your next gig, your residencies, your links and, on Pro, your song list for requests.

  2. Confirmed shows and new enquiries

Stagent's work begins once a show is agreed: contract out, invoice out, flights watched. GigTag works one step earlier and from a different direction. Someone watching you tonight fills in the booking enquiry form on your page. You reply from the website or the GigTag app. If it turns into a job, you can invoice it on GigTag Pro or carry it into the system you already use.

  3. Built around the set itself

GigTag has a job to do while you are playing. On Pro, requests from the audience arrive in a live queue during the set, chosen from your song list or open to anything if you allow it. Fans can also tip by card or Apple Pay, and GigTag takes 0%. Stagent's work happens around the show, before and after.

A night with GigTag

A DJ and live vocalist at a rooftop party

Tonight you are a hybrid act: decks, a vocalist and a mic stand at the front of the booth. That stand is where the tag goes. The crowd is there to dance, so you keep the message short: scan the code to ask for a track. The page opens in their browsers. On Pro you have opened requests, so they can ask for anything, and each one lands in the live queue on your phone. You work the ones that fit into the next mix.

Later in the night the people who want more of you scan the tag for other reasons. Some follow your socials and music links. Some see your next date and add it to their calendars. An event organiser near the bar sends a booking enquiry for a private party. It is waiting in the GigTag app when you unplug. On Pro you can send the invoice for that job in your own design, and the client pays it online.

About Stagent

What is Stagent?

Stagent is booking and artist management software for the music and entertainment industry. Its site speaks to two groups: booking agencies managing a roster with a team, and artists who handle their own bookings alone or with a few people around them. It is offered as one platform in place of spreadsheets, separate calendars and shared folders, with apps for iOS and Android next to the web version.

Each booking is kept up to date in one place, with contracts and invoices generated for the client and task lists that keep the team informed. Paperwork is signed digitally. Its site describes flight tracking linked to gigs, payments received from promoters, and earnings shown per show. An artist can also keep press photos, logos, technical riders and a biography on one page and send the link to a promoter.

How Stagent works

  1. 1

Log the booking. Each show is entered once and kept up to date in one place. For an agency, bookings sit under the right artist on the roster, where the whole team can see them.

  2. 2

Send contract and invoice. A contract and an invoice are generated for the client from the booking. Its site describes signing paperwork electronically, with no printing or scanning needed.

  3. 3

Share what the promoter needs. The artist's press photos, logos, technical rider and biography are stored on one page, and the link is sent to the promoter ahead of the show.

  4. 4

Travel and get paid. Flights linked to a gig are monitored, and the team is alerted if the itinerary changes. Payments from promoters and earnings per show are tracked in the same system.

Who Stagent is for

  • Booking agencies. Agencies managing a full roster and all its bookings. Its site describes team collaboration, automated task lists that keep colleagues informed and every show at hand in one dashboard, in place of spreadsheets and separate personal calendars.

  • Self-managed touring artists. Artists who control their own bookings alone or with a small team. Its site has a page for them, describing organised bookings, contracts and invoices for clients, and an overview of what each performance has earned.

  • Acts that fly to gigs. Performers whose diary involves airports. Its site describes automatic monitoring of flight bookings tied to gigs, with alerts to the artist and team when an itinerary changes, and mobile apps for managing things on the move.

The verdict

GigTag or Stagent: which should you choose?

The bottom line

If you play to a room, add GigTag. The strongest reason is that it works during the set, which is not what booking software is built for, giving the crowd one scan to request, follow and send a fresh booking enquiry. Stagent is the one to keep for agencies with rosters and for touring artists with contracts, promoter invoices and flights to manage. Acts with both kinds of work should use both, and let each do its own job.

A touring artist or agency with contracts, invoices and travel to manage is who Stagent addresses, and GigTag does not attempt that work. An act that plays to a room and wants requests, followers and direct enquiries is who GigTag is made for. Use both if both describe you: Stagent for the business of each show, the tag for the people at it.

  1. Step 1

    Keep confirmed shows in Stagent

Contracts, invoices to promoters, riders and flights stay where they are, and Stagent remains the record of what has been agreed for each show you play.

  2. Step 2

    Publish your public dates

Add the shows that are open to the public to your GigTag page, along with your links, so fans who scan the tag can follow and return.

  3. Step 3

Pass on what the tag brings

When an enquiry from the tag becomes a real booking, enter it in Stagent like any other show, and handle the contract and paperwork there.

Questions

Stagent and GigTag: what people ask

Something else? Ask us. A person reads every message.

Is GigTag better than Stagent for a DJ who also performs live?

For the performance, GigTag is the one built for it. The crowd scans a tag on the mic stand, sends requests into a live queue on Pro, follows you and sends booking enquiries in the browser. Stagent is built for managing the bookings you already have. If you want each set to lead to the next job, start with the tag.

Why add GigTag if Stagent already handles my bookings and invoices?

Because handling a booking and winning the next one are different jobs. Stagent organises what has been agreed. GigTag puts a booking enquiry form in front of everyone at the show, with no commission on bookings, and gives fans your next date and links from one scan. It also adds something for the set itself: live requests on Pro.

What is Stagent?

Stagent is booking and artist management software for agencies, artists and managers in music and entertainment. Its site describes bookings, contracts, invoices, task lists, flight tracking and a shareable artist page, on the web and in iOS and Android apps. See its site for plans and prices.

Is GigTag an alternative to Stagent for a solo artist?

Only if what you need is contact with your audience. GigTag does not manage contracts, travel or a roster. It gives a solo act, duo or band a permanent QR code on a mic stand tag, opening a page for song requests, gig dates, links and booking enquiries. For promoter paperwork, Stagent's site describes that work.

Both Stagent and GigTag have invoices. What is the difference?

Stagent's site describes invoices generated for clients as part of managing a booking, alongside contracts. GigTag Pro has invoices in your own design that a client pays online, which suits the private bookings that arrive through your tag. If your work is mainly promoter shows, look at Stagent. If it is weddings and private parties from enquiries, GigTag covers it.

Stagent has an app for artists. Does GigTag need one for fans?

No. Fans scan the QR code on your tag and your page opens in their phone's browser. There is nothing to download and no account to create. You, the act, manage everything from the GigTag website or the GigTag phone app: the request queue, gigs, residencies, enquiries and invoices.

Can a DJ who performs live take requests by QR code?

Yes. With GigTag on Pro, the crowd scans the tag and requests from your song list, or anything at all if you open requests. The requests arrive in a live queue on the website or the GigTag phone app. GigTag is built around live acts: solo, duo or band, with the tag made for a mic stand.

What is the difference between an artist page for promoters and one for fans?

A promoter needs your rider, press photos, logo and biography, which is what Stagent's site describes storing on one shareable page. A fan needs something else: where you play next, how to follow you, how to request a song or book you. GigTag's page is made for the second group and opens from a scan.

Do I need a new tag if my act changes its name?

No. The code printed on a GigTag never changes. If you rename the act, the old links still work and the same tag carries on opening your page. You can update the page itself whenever you like on the website or in the app, and the tag you already own stays valid.

Does Stagent work for a solo artist without an agency?

Its site says so: it addresses solo artists who control their own bookings, alone or with a small team, as well as agencies. It describes bookings, contracts, invoices, a shareable artist page and mobile apps for them. See its site for how the two versions differ and what each one includes.
