Booking sites and agencies
ReverbNation builds the career. GigTag covers tonight's gig.
A gig is the one place where people who have never streamed you are listening properly. What you need there is a quick way to send them to your music, tell them when you play next and let them book you. GigTag does that from one code on the mic stand. If ReverbNation was on your list, keep it for releases. This is for the room.

Why GigTag
What GigTag gives gigging artists beside ReverbNation
ReverbNation is built for the recorded side of a career: distribution, industry submissions, fan email. GigTag is built for the live side. One scan at a gig opens your music links, your next dates and a booking form, and on Pro your song list for requests, with no app for the audience.
- 1
The room becomes listeners tonight
Someone hears a song they like and scans the tag. Your page opens in the browser with your music links, and they are listening to the recording on the way home. Distribution puts your music on the platforms. GigTag walks a live audience to it while the song is still in their head.
- 2
Bookings come to you
A guest at a gig can send a booking enquiry from your page, on the free plan, and it reaches you in the GigTag app. GigTag takes no commission. ReverbNation's opportunities are ones you submit to. This is the other direction: people who heard you play, asking for you.
- 3
Requests from your own song list
On Pro, your song list is on the page and the audience can request from it, originals included, or ask for anything if you open requests. Requests show in a live queue on your phone. It is a stage tool, and it sits alongside the release and promotion work ReverbNation is made for.
- 4
Every gig on the page
Your gigs and weekly residencies are listed on your page on the free plan, and a fan can add one to their calendar from the audience. Fan email reaches people who signed up. The tag reaches everyone in the room, signed up or not, with the next date.
- 5
One code through every release
Singles and EPs come and go, and you can change the links on your page whenever a new one is out. The printed code never changes, so the tag you made last year points to this year's music. ReverbNation handles the release. The tag keeps pointing people at it.
In short
ReverbNation and GigTag, in four lines
- ReverbNation is a career platform for independent artists: distribution, industry opportunities and promotion tools.
- GigTag is for the live side: one scan at a gig sends the audience to your music links.
- The same code shows your next gig and takes booking enquiries, on the free plan, with no app needed.
- Our advice: release with whichever service you like, and put a GigTag on the stand whenever you play.

Your recordings
Keep ReverbNation for distribution, link releases from GigTag
GigTag is not a streaming service or a music store. Your page links to wherever your music lives, so a scan leads to a listen.
ReverbNationIts distribution service releases your music to the major streaming platforms and social video apps, with custom credits and release dates.
Reaching fans
Followers gained in the room, mid-set
The tag reaches the people in front of you. They scan it and follow your socials while you are still on stage.
ReverbNationFan Reach runs email campaigns to keep your fans engaged, and Promote It places paid adverts on social and music platforms.
Getting noticed
Booking enquiries from people who heard you
Someone who has just heard you play sends a booking enquiry from your page. It arrives in the GigTag app or on the website.
ReverbNationYou submit tracks or a live video to opportunities, ReverbNation reviews them, and the organiser contacts the artists it selects by email.
The press kit
A page for the audience, with requests on Pro
A GigTag page is for the audience, not the press: links, gigs, a booking form and, on Pro, a song list to request from.
ReverbNationIt offers a customisable electronic press kit that its site says is designed to help artists connect with venues, promoters and media professionals.
Live dates
Every gig and residency, ready to save
Every gig and weekly residency goes on your page, on the free plan, and anyone who scans can add one to their calendar.

ReverbNation or GigTag
Where GigTag is different from ReverbNation
Listeners online, listeners in the room
ReverbNation reaches people through streaming platforms, inboxes and industry contacts. GigTag reaches the people at the gig. There is a small tag on your mic stand with a QR code. Someone at the back scans it during the second song and your page opens in their browser: no app, no account. They can follow your socials, open your music links and see when you play next, before the set is over.
A request queue for the set
If your gigs mix originals with covers, the room will ask for songs. GigTag on Pro lets people scan and request from your song list, or anything if you open requests, and shows the requests in a live queue on your phone as you play. It is a tool for the two hours on stage, which is a different part of the job from releasing and promoting recordings.
Bookings from people who heard you
Opportunities on ReverbNation are things you apply for. A GigTag enquiry is someone applying to you. A guest scans the code, fills in the booking form on your page, and it arrives in the GigTag app or on the website. On Pro you can then send an invoice in your own design for the client to pay online. GigTag is not a marketplace and takes no commission on the booking.
A night with GigTag
A singer-songwriter's EP launch in a small room
Tonight is the launch of your new EP, in the back room of a cafe with rows of chairs and a borrowed lamp. The recordings went out to the streaming services this morning. Now the job is the room. Your tag is on the mic stand. Before the first song you say that everything is behind the code: the music, the socials, the dates. People scan while you tune. The page opens in their browsers with no app to install, and your music links are there for the journey home.
The set is mostly originals, with a couple of covers held back. You are on Pro, and for the last part of the night you open requests. Titles arrive in the live queue on your phone, and you choose the one you can do justice to. Afterwards a woman who runs a small festival scans the tag and sends a booking enquiry from your page. You read it in the GigTag app that night. Your coming gigs are listed too, and a couple in the second row add next week's date to their calendar.
About ReverbNation
What is ReverbNation?
ReverbNation is a career platform for independent artists who release their own music. Its site groups what it offers into music distribution, industry access and promo tools. Distribution sends your releases to the major streaming platforms. Industry access means Opportunities: openings for sync placements, festival slots, label attention, radio and press, which its site says number more than 700 a year. Its team reviews each submission and sends it on to the organiser.
In practice you upload your songs, release them through the distribution service, and submit tracks or a live video to opportunities that fit. The organiser makes the choice and contacts selected artists by email. Alongside that sit an electronic press kit for venues, promoters and media, Fan Reach for emailing your fans, and paid promotion on social platforms.

How ReverbNation works
- 1
Join and add your songs. You create an artist account and upload your recordings. Its site lists a Song Library, which keeps all of your content together in one place.
- 2
Release through distribution. The distribution service sends releases to the major streaming platforms and to social video apps, with options such as custom credits and a chosen release date.
- 3
Submit to opportunities. You search the opportunities list and submit your strongest tracks or a live video. ReverbNation reviews the submission and passes it to the organiser, who emails the artists selected.
- 4
Promote and stay in touch. Fan Reach handles email campaigns to your fans, and Promote It places paid adverts on social and music platforms. The electronic press kit is there for venues, promoters and media.
Who ReverbNation is for
Artists releasing their own music. The home page leads with distribution: getting recordings onto every major platform and onto social video apps. It is written for independent artists who treat their catalogue as a long-term business and want each release handled dependably.
Artists after industry attention. Opportunities are grouped by kind: sync licensing for film, TV and adverts, exposure to labels, radio and playlist placements, press features, and services such as studio time. A team listens to submissions every week, its site says.
Acts chasing bigger stages. Festivals and conferences are among the opportunity types, at regional, national and international level. A band can submit a live video for those, which makes the list a route to stages as well as to recordings being heard.
The verdict
GigTag or ReverbNation: which should you choose?
The bottom line
If you play live as well as release, put a GigTag on the stand. The strongest reason is that a gig is full of people who are not yet your listeners, and one scan sends them to your music, your socials and your next date with nothing to install. GigTag does not distribute music or handle industry submissions. An artist whose work is mainly recorded is still served by ReverbNation, and a gigging one should have both.
Most gigging artists who release music would use both. ReverbNation handles distribution, submissions and fan email. GigTag handles the night. They also feed each other: put your music links on your GigTag page, and the person who scanned your tag at a bar gig becomes a listener. GigTag is not a streaming service or a music store, so your releases still need a home.
- Step 1
Release and submit
Use ReverbNation for the release itself and for submitting to the opportunities that suit your music. That work is done at home, before and between gigs.
- Step 2
Link the release on GigTag
Add your streaming and music links to your GigTag page as soon as the release is out, so every scan at a gig points to it.
- Step 3
Play it live, tag up
Put the tag on your mic stand at every show. People who liked a song can find it that night, follow you and save your next date.

Questions
ReverbNation and GigTag: what people ask
Something else? Ask us. A person reads every message.
Is GigTag or ReverbNation better for a gigging singer-songwriter?
For the gigs, GigTag: it is built for a performer on a stage, with your music links, dates, a booking form and, on Pro, requests from your own song list, opened by one scan with no app. For getting recordings onto streaming platforms and in front of the industry, ReverbNation is built for that. Most gigging songwriters need the live tool as much as the release tool.
I already use ReverbNation. What am I missing at gigs without GigTag?
A way for the people in the room to act on what they hear. Without a code to scan, a listener has to remember your name and search for you later. With GigTag they open your page in a browser on the spot, follow you, find the song, save your next gig or send a booking enquiry. The free plan covers all of that.
What does ReverbNation do for artists?
According to its site, ReverbNation offers music distribution to major streaming platforms, a list of industry opportunities such as festival slots, sync placements and label access, an electronic press kit, email campaigns to fans and paid promotion tools. It is aimed at independent artists building a career around their own music. See its site for prices.
Is GigTag a ReverbNation alternative?
For most of what ReverbNation does, no. GigTag is not a streaming service or a music store, and it does not find gigs. It covers the live show: a permanent QR code on your mic stand that opens a page with song requests, your next gig, your links and a booking enquiry form. The two fit together well.
Can I link my ReverbNation music from a GigTag page?
Your GigTag page carries your socials, your website and your music links, so anyone who scans the tag at a gig can go straight to where your songs are. Links are part of the free plan. GigTag itself is not a streaming service or a music store.
Do fans need a ReverbNation or GigTag account to scan my tag?
No. All they need is a phone with a camera. They scan the code on the tag and your GigTag page opens in the browser. There is nothing to download and no account to create. The code is permanent, so someone who took a photo of it can come back to your page long after the gig.
How do ReverbNation Opportunities work?
Its site sets out the steps. You search the list for opportunities that match your sound and goals, then submit your strongest tracks or a live video. ReverbNation reviews the submission and sends it to the organiser, and if you are selected the organiser contacts you by email. Festivals, labels, radio and sync placements are among the categories.
What is ReverbNation Fan Reach?
Fan Reach is its email marketing tool. Its site describes it as a way to keep your fans engaged through email campaigns. It sits beside Promote It, which places paid adverts on social and music platforms, and the electronic press kit. See its site for how each one is included.
How do I get people at a gig to stream my music?
Make the link easy to reach while they are still listening. A GigTag on your mic stand opens a page with your music links, so someone who likes a song can find it before you finish the set. They need only a phone camera and a browser. Links are on the free plan.
Can a singer-songwriter take requests without playing only covers?
Yes. With GigTag on Pro, requests come from your own song list, so you decide what can be asked for, originals included. Opening requests to anything is your choice, and you can leave it off. Each request shows in a live queue on your phone, and you pick what to play.
