Song request apps
NoSongRequests and GigTag: two QR codes for the stage, compared
At a gig you need three things from the crowd: requests you can play, a reason to come back, and a way to book you. GigTag puts all three behind one printed tag on your mic stand, made for live acts. If you were looking at NoSongRequests, which grew out of DJ work, here is why a band or solo act may be happier with GigTag.
- No app for your audience
- Free to start
- One code that never changes
Why GigTag
Why live acts choose GigTag over NoSongRequests
NoSongRequests is a broad toolkit built by DJs, with DJ software at its centre. GigTag is narrower and aimed squarely at people who play live: a tag for the mic stand, your gigs and residencies, a booking form and invoices, with nothing for the audience to install.
- 1
Built around a mic stand
GigTag starts with a small tag you design yourself, printed and delivered or printed at home for free. It sits at eye level on your stand, where a pub or wedding crowd is already looking. NoSongRequests was built by DJs and is at its strongest beside DJ software, so the stage is GigTag's home ground.
- 2
Weekly residencies fans can save
Much live work repeats: the same bar every Thursday. GigTag lists every gig and each weekly residency on the free plan, and a fan adds the date to their own calendar in a moment. NoSongRequests promotes shows through event pages, tickets and email, which is aimed at ticketed and one-off nights.
- 3
Enquiry to invoice in one place
Someone at the bar wants you for a party. With GigTag they send an enquiry from the page they already have open, and on Pro you reply with an invoice in your own design that they pay online. GigTag takes no commission on bookings. NoSongRequests follows a booking request with its fan list and marketing tools.
- 4
Free to start, 0% of tips
The free plan gives one act its tag design and print file, page, links, gigs, residencies and enquiry form. Pro adds requests, tips, invoices and more acts. Tips work in every country, through your own Ziina or Stripe account, and GigTag takes 0% of them.
- 5
Solo, duo and band together
Many players work in more than one line-up. On GigTag Pro one account holds more than one act, each with its own page and permanent code, and band members can join the band. You move between your solo act and the full band without a second login.
In short
NoSongRequests and GigTag, in four lines
- NoSongRequests is a broad QR toolkit built by DJs, covering requests, shoutouts, merch, tickets and DJ software links.
- GigTag is built for the stage: one printed tag on your mic stand, with nothing for the audience to install.
- The same scan takes requests, shows your gigs and residencies, and sends a booking enquiry you can invoice.
- If you play live, choose GigTag, and keep NoSongRequests for DJ sets that run through Serato or VirtualDJ.
Side by side
GigTag vs NoSongRequests, topic by topic
The song list
Your own song list, or open requests
Fans choose from your song list, or you can open requests to any song. Each request lands in a live queue you watch during the set.
NoSongRequestsIts site says bands can upload a set list so fans request only songs they know, and Crate Mode limits requests to the music in a DJ's own library.
Being tipped
0% taken from tips
Tips are paid by card or Apple Pay into your own Ziina account in the UAE, or your own Stripe account everywhere else. GigTag takes 0% of them.
NoSongRequestsIts site describes tips checked out through Stripe, with cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay depending on the guest's device and location, and says external methods such as Venmo or PayPal can also be shown.
After the gig
Next gig and residencies stay on the page
The page keeps working after the night. Fans can return to it for your next gig, weekly residencies, links and the booking enquiry form.
NoSongRequestsMy Fans collects contact details from people who interact during the show, and its site says you can email them afterwards about upcoming dates and ticket links.
Special events
One tag for every kind of gig
One code covers every gig. The act's page and printed tag are the same at a pub night, a wedding and a residency.
NoSongRequestsCustom Event Pages give a wedding, school dance or corporate night its own name, logo, message and QR code, separate from the performer's main page.
Working with DJ software
Keep NoSongRequests for DJ software links
GigTag is made for acts that play the songs live. You manage the queue, gigs, enquiries and invoices from the website or the GigTag phone app.
NoSongRequestsIts site describes a desktop app that creates a requests crate inside Serato DJ Pro, a VirtualDJ integration, and playlists in Spotify, TIDAL or Apple Music for other DJ platforms.

A NoSongRequests alternative
Where GigTag is different from NoSongRequests
A tag made for the mic stand
GigTag starts from the object on stage. You design a small tag in your own colours and it sits on your mic stand at every gig. GigTag can print and send it, with free delivery in Dubai and the UK, or you print the file yourself for nothing. NoSongRequests starts from the request page and the DJ's software. Both end in a scan, but one was shaped around a booth and the other around a singer's stand.
Residencies and next gigs on the page
A lot of live work is the same room every week. GigTag lets you list every gig and each weekly residency, and a fan who scans tonight can add next Thursday to their calendar before the song ends. That is on the free plan. NoSongRequests promotes your shows through event pages, tickets and emails to your fan list, which fits ticketed nights and one-off events. GigTag's version is aimed at the regulars in front of you.
From enquiry to paid invoice
Both products can bring you a booking request from someone in the room. With GigTag the enquiry form is on the free plan, and on Pro you can follow it with an invoice in your own design that the client pays online. A wedding guest who scans your tag in March can be an enquiry that night and a paid invoice in April. NoSongRequests pairs its booking requests with a fan list and marketing tools for after the show.
A night with GigTag
A covers band on a Saturday pub night
You load in, set up the PA and put the tag on the singer's mic stand. Nothing else needs doing: the code is the same one you used last week. During the first set a table near the front scans it. Your page opens in their browser, with no app and no account, and they pick a song from your list. It appears in the live queue on the phone beside the drummer, and you work it into the second set when the room is ready for it.
Between sets, people who scanned are looking at the rest of the page. They can see where you play next and add the date to their calendar, follow your socials, or open your music links. Someone planning a fortieth fills in the booking enquiry form before last orders. On Sunday you read the enquiry on the website, agree the details, and send an invoice in your own design for the client to pay online. On Pro, the same page can take tips by card or Apple Pay.
About NoSongRequests
What is NoSongRequests?
NoSongRequests gives DJs and live bands a QR code that leads to a request page. Its site describes one code that handles song requests, tips, shoutouts on screen, merch, tickets, booking requests and a digital business card. It says it was built by DJs, and much of it is aimed at them: there are direct links with Serato DJ Pro and VirtualDJ, and modes for weddings, karaoke and line dancing. Its site says 21,000 artists use it across 160 countries.
In practice the crowd scans the code and the page opens with nothing to download. Requests, tips and shoutouts arrive in the performer's app, which runs on iOS, Android, macOS and Windows, and you sort them and pick what suits the set. Bands can upload a set list so fans only ask for songs they know. A separate event page, with its own code, can be made for a wedding or a school dance.

How NoSongRequests works
- 1
Get your code and page. You sign up and receive a QR code and a request page for your act. The code stays with you, and its site says it can be pointed at any webpage later without reprinting.
- 2
Decide what can be requested. Bands can upload a set list so fans choose only songs they play. DJs can switch on Crate Mode, which limits requests to the music in their own library.
- 3
Let the crowd scan. Fans scan the code with their phone and the page opens with no download. They send requests, shoutouts and tips, and can reach your socials, merch, tickets and booking form from the same page.
- 4
Run the night from the app. Requests arrive in the performer's app on iOS, Android, macOS or Windows, where you sort them and choose what fits. With Serato DJ Pro, they appear in a dedicated crate inside the software.
Who NoSongRequests is for
Mobile and wedding DJs. Its site gives mobile DJs one code for requests, tips, shoutouts and bookings, with requests feeding into DJ software. For weddings it describes a dedicated event page carrying the couple's name, and a planning mode that sorts music by ceremony and reception before the day.
Live bands. For bands, its site describes set list upload so fans request only songs the band knows, plus the same tools for tips, bookings and promoting shows. The code also leads fans to contact details, merch, tickets and a fan list the band can email afterwards.
Karaoke, schools and themed nights. Its site lists modes for karaoke rotation, line dancing, silent discos, roller rinks and school dances. For schools it describes a family friendly setting that rejects explicit songs, request limits, and a kiosk mode for shared tablets when students' phones are not allowed.
The verdict
GigTag or NoSongRequests: which should you choose?
The bottom line
If you play live, choose GigTag. The strongest reason is fit: it was made for an act on a stage, with one printed tag that takes requests from your own song list, shows your next gig and residencies, and turns people in the room into booking enquiries and paid invoices. NoSongRequests remains the stronger choice for DJs who want requests inside Serato or VirtualDJ, and for acts that sell merch and tickets from the same code.
You would normally pick one, because two codes on one stage confuse people. If you DJ as well as play live, it can make sense to keep NoSongRequests for the DJ sets, where its Serato and VirtualDJ links matter, and put a GigTag on the mic stand for the live act. GigTag tips work in every country, into your own Ziina or Stripe account, so tips need not decide it.
- Step 1
Split by type of work
Keep NoSongRequests for DJ sets, where its links with DJ software do the most. Use GigTag for the live act, where the tag sits on the mic stand.
- Step 2
Show one code per set
Put only one code in front of the crowd at a time. When the band stops and the DJ set starts, swap what is on show so nobody scans the wrong one.
- Step 3
Send bookings one way
Decide where enquiries should land. GigTag's enquiry form and invoices keep a booking in one place, so point people there if that is how you want to handle the paperwork.
Choose GigTag if
You play live and want a printed tag on your stand that shows your next gig and residencies, takes requests and booking enquiries, and lets you invoice the client afterwards.

Questions
NoSongRequests and GigTag: what people ask
Something else? Ask us. A person reads every message.
Is GigTag better than NoSongRequests for a covers band?
For a band that plays pubs, weddings and residencies, GigTag is the closer fit. It gives you a printed tag for the mic stand, requests from your own song list in a live queue, every gig and weekly residency on your page, and a booking form with invoices to follow. NoSongRequests suits a band that also wants merch, ticket sales and DJ software links.
Why would a musician switch from NoSongRequests to GigTag?
Usually because their work is live sets, not DJ sets. GigTag is built for that: one permanent code on a tag you design, a page about the act with gigs and residencies, enquiries from the room, and invoices clients pay online. It is free to start, and GigTag takes 0% of tips, which work in every country.
What is NoSongRequests?
NoSongRequests is a QR code service for DJs and live bands. The crowd scans the code and sends song requests, shoutouts and tips from the browser, and the performer manages them in an app. Its site also describes merch, ticket sales, booking requests, custom event pages and integrations with DJ software such as Serato DJ Pro and VirtualDJ.
Is GigTag a NoSongRequests alternative for a live band?
For a live act, yes: it covers similar ground in a different shape. GigTag gives a solo act, duo or band one permanent QR code on a custom tag for the mic stand. Fans scan it to request a song, see your next gig and residencies, follow your links and send a booking enquiry. Song requests are part of GigTag Pro.
Does the audience need an app for NoSongRequests or GigTag?
No, in both cases. NoSongRequests says on its site that the crowd needs no downloads or special apps: they scan and the request page opens. GigTag works the same way: the act's page opens in the phone's browser, with no app and no account. The apps in both products are for the performer, not the audience.
Does GigTag take a cut of tips?
No. GigTag takes 0% of tips. They go into the performer's own account: Ziina in the UAE, or Stripe everywhere else. Tips, song requests, gigs, residencies, links, booking enquiries and invoices work in every country. For how NoSongRequests handles tips and payment types, see its site.
Can a live band use NoSongRequests?
Yes, its site has a section for live bands. It describes uploading a set list so fans request only songs the band knows, along with tools for bookings and promoting shows. GigTag is made only for live acts, so a band comparing the two is choosing between a wide toolkit with DJ roots and a tag built around the stage.
Does NoSongRequests work with Serato DJ?
Its site says a desktop app creates a requests crate inside Serato DJ Pro, showing the requester's name, comments and whether the song is already in your library. It also describes a VirtualDJ integration. GigTag is for acts that play live, so its requests go to a queue on the website or the GigTag phone app.
How do I take song requests at a pub gig without people shouting over the band?
Put a QR code where the audience can see it. With GigTag the code is on a small tag on your mic stand. People scan it from their table, your page opens in the browser, and they pick a song from your list. The request joins a live queue you can check between songs. Requests are a Pro feature.
Can I have one QR code for my solo act and another for my band?
With GigTag, yes. Each act has its own page and its own permanent code, and on Pro one account can hold more than one act. Band members can join the band too. The free plan covers one act, including the tag design and print file, the page, links, gigs, residencies and the booking enquiry form.
