GigTag

Booking sites and agencies

GigSalad finds new clients. GigTag works the room you are in.

At a gig you need the people enjoying the set to be able to do something about it before they leave: book you, follow you, find your next date. GigTag gives your act one permanent QR code on the mic stand that does all of that in their browser. If you came here looking at GigSalad, think of this as the half of the job that happens on stage.

Why GigTag

Why gigging acts add GigTag alongside GigSalad

GigSalad is built for planners who are searching for an entertainer. GigTag is built for a live act on a stage. Every room you already play holds people with parties, weddings and work events of their own, and one scan lets them ask you directly, with no commission taken by GigTag.

  1. 1

Bookings from rooms you already play

The people at your gig have heard you, which no profile can do for them. With the tag on your mic stand, they send a booking enquiry from your page while the set is still going. GigSalad is built for planners who start by searching, so the two reach different people.

  2. 2

    Direct to you, no commission

A GigTag enquiry comes straight to you on the website or in the GigTag app, and GigTag takes no commission on the booking that follows. You agree the date yourself. On Pro you send an invoice in your own design and the client pays it online.

  3. 3

Nothing for the audience to install

Nobody at a bar is going to download an app for a band. They point a phone camera at the tag, your page opens in the browser, and that is it. No account either. A marketplace is designed for a planner sitting down to compare options, which is a different moment.

  4. 4

    One code does five jobs

The same scan shows your next gig and weekly residencies for people to add to their calendar, carries your socials, website and music links, takes booking enquiries and, on Pro, song requests and invoices. A marketplace profile is built for one job, being found by planners.

  5. 5

    Free to start, and permanent

The free plan covers one act with your custom tag design, the print file, your page, links, every gig and residency and the booking form. The code never changes, and old links still work if you rename the act, so the tag you print now keeps working.

GigSalad or GigTag

Where GigTag is different from GigSalad

  1. Strangers searching, or the room tonight

GigSalad puts you in front of people who are planning an event and have not chosen an act. GigTag starts from the opposite end. Your QR code sits on a small tag on the mic stand. Someone at the bar who has a birthday coming up scans it, your page opens in their browser, and they send a booking enquiry while you are still playing. They already know what you sound like.

  2. One printed code for every gig

A marketplace profile lives online. A GigTag lives on your stand. The code is printed once and never changes, so the same tag works at the bar gig, the brewery, the wedding and the street fair. If you rename the act, old links still work. Nobody downloads an app or makes an account: they point a phone camera at the tag and your page opens.

  3. What the scan does besides bookings

A GigTag page is made for the set itself. People can see your next gig and your weekly residencies and add them to their calendar, and follow your socials, website and music links. On Pro they can request a song from your list, and you see requests in a live queue. Pro also lets you send invoices in your own design that clients pay online.

A night with GigTag

A Saturday at the brewery for a cover band

You load in at the taproom, set up in the corner by the fermenters and hang the tag on your mic stand before soundcheck. Halfway through the first set a group near the front holds a phone up to it. Your page opens in their browser. Nobody asks you for a business card, and nobody has to shout a web address over the drums. One of them finds your next gig and adds it to their calendar. Another follows your socials while you are still playing the chorus.

If you are on Pro, requests start coming in from your song list, and you work down the live queue on your phone between songs. During the break, someone who is planning a company party opens the booking enquiry form and fills it in at the bar. It is waiting for you on the website or in the GigTag app when you pack down. You reply the next morning, agree the date, and send an invoice in your own design that they pay online. The tag goes back in the gig bag for next week.

About GigSalad

What is GigSalad?

GigSalad is a marketplace for booking entertainment in the United States and Canada. People planning parties, weddings and corporate events go there to find and book entertainers, and acts list themselves so those planners can find them. It is built around a client who is starting from nothing: they have a date and an occasion, and they need someone to fill it. Live music is one of the things they come looking for.

In practice it means being found by someone who has not seen you. A planner searches the marketplace, picks out acts that suit the event and books one. This page keeps to those basics. For how profiles, quotes and payments work today, read GigSalad's own pages for performers before you sign up, and see its site for prices.

United States and Canada

How GigSalad works

  1. 1

A planner has an event. It starts with someone organising a party, a wedding or a corporate event in the United States or Canada who needs entertainment and has not settled on an act.

  2. 2

They search the marketplace. The planner goes to GigSalad to look for entertainers. Acts that have listed themselves there are the ones that can be found, with live music among the options.

  3. 3

They book an entertainer. The planner chooses an act and books it through the marketplace. For the detail of each stage, including what performers do on their side, read GigSalad's own guidance.

Who GigSalad is for

  • Party planners. Someone putting on a birthday, an anniversary or a family celebration who wants entertainment and does not know any acts personally. A marketplace gives them a place to start looking, and gives you a way to be seen by them.

  • Couples planning a wedding. A couple who need music for the ceremony, the reception or the evening and are comparing options from home. They are choosing months ahead and have not heard you play, which is the situation a marketplace is built around.

  • Corporate event organisers. A person at a company who has been asked to arrange entertainment for a staff party, a launch or a client evening. They need to find and book somebody suitable, and corporate events are among the occasions GigSalad is used for.

The verdict

GigTag or GigSalad: which should you choose?

The bottom line

If you play live, put a GigTag on your stand. The strongest reason is simple: the people watching you now already know what you sound like, and one scan lets them enquire directly, with no commission taken by GigTag and no app to install. GigSalad is still the right place for reaching planners in the United States and Canada who have never seen you, so the sensible choice for a busy act is both.

Use both. GigSalad is for reaching planners who have never seen you, across the United States and Canada. GigTag is for the people who have: it turns an ordinary gig into booking enquiries, with no commission taken by GigTag. A sensible set-up is a marketplace profile for new clients and a tag on the stand at every show you play.

  1. Step 1

    Keep the marketplace profile

Leave your GigSalad profile doing its job for planners who are searching online. Nothing about GigTag changes it, and you do not need to choose between them.

  2. Step 2

    Make your GigTag page

Set up your act on the free plan: design your tag, add your links and enter every gig and residency. Print the tag yourself or order a printed one.

  3. Step 3

    Put the tag out

Hang the tag on your mic stand at every show. Enquiries from the room come to you on the website or in the GigTag app, alongside whatever the marketplace brings.

Questions

GigSalad and GigTag: what people ask

Something else? Ask us. A person reads every message.

Is GigTag better than GigSalad for a cover band that gigs every week?

For the gigs themselves, GigTag is the tool built for the job. It puts a permanent QR code on your stand so the audience can send a booking enquiry, save your next date and, on Pro, request songs, all in the browser. It does not find new clients, though. GigSalad is built for that, so a band that wants both kinds of work keeps both.

What does GigTag do that GigSalad is not built for?

It works in the room. GigTag gives the audience at your gig a page to open with one scan: your next gig and residencies, your links, a booking enquiry form, and on Pro song requests and invoices you send in your own design. GigSalad is built to connect planners with entertainers online, which is a separate job.

Is GigTag a marketplace like GigSalad?

No. GigSalad is a marketplace where people planning events find and book entertainers. GigTag does not list you anywhere or find clients for you. It gives your act one permanent QR code on a tag for the mic stand, and the people watching you use it to send a booking enquiry, see your next gig or follow your links.

Can I use GigSalad and GigTag at the same time?

Yes, they do different jobs. A GigSalad profile is there for planners searching online. A GigTag code is there for the audience at your gigs. Nothing about one gets in the way of the other, and a guest who liked the set is a natural person to ask you about a party of their own.

Does GigTag work in the United States and Canada, where GigSalad operates?

Yes. The page, your links, gigs and residencies, the booking enquiry form, song requests, invoices and tips work in every country, with tips going into your own Stripe account. Pro is $15.99 a month outside the UK and the UAE.

How do booking enquiries reach me on GigTag compared with GigSalad?

On GigSalad, clients find and book acts through the marketplace, so follow its own guidance for performers. On GigTag, a fan fills in the booking enquiry form on your page after scanning the tag. The enquiry comes to you on the website or in the GigTag app, and you reply yourself. The form is part of the free plan.

Do people need an app to scan a GigTag code?

No. They point their phone camera at the tag and your page opens in the browser. There is no app to install and no account to create. That matters at a bar gig, where people will give it a few seconds at most, and it is a different moment from a planner sitting down to search GigSalad.

Can I print the GigTag tag myself?

Yes. The free plan includes your custom tag design and the print file, so you can print it yourself at no cost. If you would rather have one made, GigTag prints it for AED 100 in the UAE or £24.99 in the UK. Elsewhere we don't ship yet, so ask us first. Either way the code is the same and never changes, so it can sit beside a GigSalad profile for years.

Is GigSalad only for the United States?

GigSalad works in the United States and Canada. It is a marketplace where people planning parties, weddings and corporate events find and book entertainers. GigTag is not tied to a country in that way: everything, tips included, works wherever you play.

What happens to my GigTag code if the band changes its name?

Nothing breaks. The printed code is permanent, and if you rename the act the old links still work, so the tag you already own keeps opening your page. You would update your name wherever else you are listed, a GigSalad profile included, but the code itself does not need replacing.
