Booking sites and agencies
Freak Music brings the client. GigTag works the room.
At a gig you need three things from the room: a way for people to ask for songs, a way for them to find your next night, and a way to book you before they forget your name. GigTag puts all three behind one code on your mic stand. If you were looking at Freak Music for agency work, add this for the gigs themselves.

Why GigTag
What GigTag adds for a band on Freak Music
Freak Music's work is finding the client and arranging the booking. GigTag's work starts when you play: every guest can request a song, save your next date and send you an enquiry directly, and GigTag takes no commission on what follows.
- 1
Enquiries from people who just heard you
The strongest advert for a party band is the set itself. With the tag on your stand, a guest at your own gig scans it and sends a booking enquiry while the band is still playing. It comes straight to you, and GigTag takes no commission. An agency is built for clients who search from home.
- 2
Requests in a queue, not shouted
On Pro, guests choose from your song list on their own phones, or ask for anything if you open requests. Each request appears in a live queue on your phone, so the singer is not fielding titles between songs. That is a tool for the stage. Freak Music's tools are for the booking before it.
- 3
Your next public night, saved
Your page shows your next gig and any weekly residency, and a guest can add the date to their calendar in the middle of the set. A full room at your next public night can start there. An agency listing is aimed at people hiring a band. Your GigTag page is aimed at people who come to watch one.
- 4
Invoices for bookings you take directly
When a direct enquiry turns into a booking, Pro lets you send an invoice in your own design that the client pays online. Agency bookings come with the agency's contract and payment handling. For the work you arrange yourself, GigTag gives you the enquiry and the invoice in one place.
- 5
The band and the duo together
Many function bands also go out as a duo or a solo act. On Pro, one GigTag account holds more than one act, and band members can join the band. The free plan covers one act if that is all you need. An agency lists each act for clients. GigTag keeps yours together for you.
In short

- GigTag works in the room: one scan lets a guest request a song, save your next date or enquire.

- Our advice: keep the agency for finding clients, and put a GigTag on the stand at every gig.

Getting booked
Direct enquiries from the room, no commission to GigTag
People at your gig scan the tag and send a booking enquiry from your page. It arrives in the GigTag app or on the website, on the free plan.
Freak MusicClients check availability from your profile and you send a quote for their event. They can ask several acts at once from a shortlist.
The paperwork
Keep Freak Music for contracts on agency bookings
On Pro you send invoices in your own design that clients pay online. GigTag is not an agency, so the agreement with a direct client is between the two of you.
Freak MusicEach booking has an official contract between client and act, written in plain English, and its site says the agency checks every contract before approval.
Being paid
Invoices that clients pay online, on Pro
Clients pay your GigTag invoices online, on Pro. Tips by card or Apple Pay go into your own Stripe account, or your own Ziina account in the UAE, with 0% taken.
Freak MusicClient payments go into a client account, and its site says funds are passed to the act after the event has taken place.
Help on the night
A live request queue on your phone
GigTag's job on the night is the audience: song requests in a live queue on your phone, your links, and your next gig one scan away.
Freak MusicClients get an emergency out-of-hours number, and the agency helps find a replacement if an act cannot perform through illness or injury.

Freak Music or GigTag
Where GigTag is different from Freak Music
Before the event, and during it
Freak Music does its work weeks or months ahead, when a couple or an events manager is choosing a band online. GigTag does its work while you are playing. The tag sits on your mic stand, someone scans it between songs, and your page opens in their browser with your next gig, your links and a booking enquiry form. One reaches people who are searching. The other reaches people who are already listening.
Song requests and a live queue
A function band lives on requests. With GigTag on Pro, people scan the tag and pick from your song list, or ask for anything if you open requests, and each one lands in a live queue on your phone during the set. That happens on the night, on the floor. Freak Music's part comes earlier: it found the client and set up the booking that put you on that stage.
Enquiries from your own gigs
Most bands on an agency roster also play pubs, clubs and public events they arranged themselves. Those rooms hold people planning weddings and parties. GigTag gives them a way to act on the night: scan the code on your stand, see your next dates and weekly residencies, add one to their calendar, or send a booking enquiry directly to you. GigTag is not an agency and takes no commission on that booking.
A night with GigTag
A Saturday social club night for a party band
It is a Saturday at a social club, a public night you arranged yourselves. The five of you are set up by eight, and the tag is on the singer's mic stand, printed in your own design. During the first set, a table near the front scans it. Your page opens in their browser, with no app, and because you are on Pro they find the song list. Requests start to appear in the live queue on the phone propped by the keyboard. You pick two that fit the next run of songs and announce them from the stage.
At the break, a woman comes over to ask about her husband's fiftieth. You point at the tag. She scans it, opens the booking enquiry form and sends the date before she is back at her table. It is waiting in the GigTag app when you pack down. Her friend, on the same page, adds next month's night at this club to her calendar. On Monday you reply to the enquiry and, once the details are settled, send an invoice in your own design for her to pay online. GigTag takes no commission.
About Freak Music
What is Freak Music?
Freak Music is a UK entertainment agency. Clients planning a wedding, private party, corporate event or charity fundraiser browse its acts by style and by region, across England, Scotland and Wales. The range is wide: party and function bands, ceilidh bands, tribute acts, jazz and swing, classical players, DJs and singing waiters. Its site says it has been home to local bands for hire for over 20 years, and acts can apply through its Register an Act page.
A client opens an act's profile, checks availability and enters the event details, then receives a quote from the act. They can shortlist several acts and ask them all at once. Bookings made through the agency come with what it calls Full Agency Protection: a written contract, payments held in a client account until the act has performed, a named adviser, and help finding a replacement act in an emergency.

How Freak Music works
- 1
Browse by style and region. A client picks a style, from party bands and ceilidh bands to tribute acts and string quartets, and narrows the list to their part of England, Scotland or Wales.
- 2
Check availability. On an act's profile they press Check Availability and enter the date and details of the event. The act replies with a quote written for that occasion.
- 3
Shortlist and compare. Acts can be added to a shortlist, and one quote request can go to several of them together, so the client compares the replies side by side.
- 4
Book through the agency. The booking is confirmed with a contract between client and act. The agency assigns an adviser, keeps the client's payments in a client account, and stays on call for emergencies.
Who Freak Music is for
Couples planning a wedding. Wedding bands are the first thing its site points to. A couple can look for an evening party band, a ceilidh band that also plays pop covers, a string quartet for the ceremony or a piper, all within their own region.
Corporate events and fundraisers. Its site has a section for corporate event entertainment, with showbands and background acts for dinners, and it names charity fundraisers too. For an events manager, the contract, the adviser and the emergency replacement service are set out on its protection page.
Parties with a theme. Anniversaries and private parties are covered by tribute acts for each decade from the 40s to the 80s, singing waiters, vintage and retro acts, steel bands and mariachi bands. The style menu is long, and every style can be filtered by region.
The verdict
GigTag or Freak Music: which should you choose?
The bottom line
If you play live, put a GigTag on the stand. The strongest reason is simple: the people most likely to book a party band are the ones dancing to it, and GigTag lets them enquire on the spot, directly, with no commission taken by GigTag. It does not find clients for you, so a band that wants an agency to bring wedding and corporate work should stay with Freak Music too. The two sit side by side.
They do different jobs, so most bands would use both. Keep your agency profile for the clients who search online and want a contract and an adviser. Put a GigTag on the stand for everyone who sees you play. If the agency booked the gig, follow your agreement with it about enquiries from that event. On your own gigs, the enquiries are yours.
- Step 1
Keep the agency profile current
Leave Freak Music to do what it is set up for. Answer quote requests promptly and keep your profile details and line-up up to date for clients who search.
- Step 2
Tag your own gigs
Create your act on GigTag, design the tag and add your public gigs and residencies. Print the tag yourself or order one, and put it on the stand.
- Step 3
Know which enquiry is which
At gigs you arranged, enquiries from the tag are yours to answer. At gigs an agency arranged, follow the terms you agreed with that agency.

Questions
Freak Music and GigTag: what people ask
Something else? Ask us. A person reads every message.
Is GigTag better than Freak Music for a party band?
They do different jobs, so the honest answer is that a party band is better off with GigTag on the stand whichever agency it uses. GigTag covers the gig itself: song requests in a live queue, your next date, your links and a booking form, from one scan with no app. Freak Music covers finding clients, which GigTag does not do.
What does GigTag do that Freak Music is not built for?
Everything that happens in the room. Guests request songs from their phones on Pro, save your next gig to their calendar, follow your socials and send a booking enquiry directly to you. The code on the tag never changes and opens in a browser. Freak Music is built for clients choosing and booking an act before the event.
What is Freak Music?
Freak Music is a UK entertainment agency. Clients use its site to find bands, DJs and other acts for weddings, parties and corporate events, searching by style and region. They request quotes from acts and book through the agency, which handles the contract and holds payment until the act has performed. See its site for prices.
Is GigTag an agency like Freak Music?
No. GigTag is not an agency or a marketplace and does not find clients for you. It gives your act one permanent QR code on a custom tag for the mic stand. People watching you scan it to see your next gig, follow your links, request a song or send a booking enquiry. It works alongside an agency.
Can a band on Freak Music also use GigTag?
Yes. The agency covers clients who search online, and GigTag covers the people in the room. Put the tag on your stand at your own gigs and residencies, and check your agreement with any agency about enquiries from events it booked for you. The free plan includes the tag design, your page, your gigs and the enquiry form.
Does GigTag work in the UK, where Freak Music operates?
Yes. The page, gigs, song requests, booking enquiries and invoices work in every country. Pro is £11.99 a month in the UK, and a printed tag is £24.99 with free UK delivery, or you can print your own for free. Tips work in the UK too, into your own Stripe account, with 0% taken by GigTag.
How do clients get a quote from a band on Freak Music?
From the act's profile. The client presses Check Availability, enters the date and details of the event, and the act sends back a quote for it. Several acts can be added to a shortlist and asked at once. Its site also gives a phone number and an email address for the agency's team.
Does Freak Music cover ceilidh bands in Scotland?
Yes. Its site lists ceilidh and barn dance bands, bands that mix ceilidh with pop covers, Scottish pipers and folk acts, and its regions include Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and the Borders among others. It covers England and Wales as well. See its site for the acts in your area.
Can I print my own QR tag for the band's mic stand?
Yes. GigTag's free plan includes the custom tag design and a print file, so you can print the tag yourself at no cost. If you would like it made for you, a printed tag is £24.99 in the UK with free delivery. The code on it is permanent, so one tag does every gig.
Do guests need an app to request a song from a band?
Not with GigTag. A guest points their phone camera at the code on your mic stand and your page opens in the browser. There is no app and no account. On Pro they can pick from your song list, or ask for anything if you open requests, and you see it in a live queue.
