Promoting tracks with Hypeddit, playing gigs with GigTag
When you perform, you need the audience to leave with more than a memory: a way to follow you, a date for your next gig and, for some of them, a way to book you. GigTag gives you all of that from a single printed code on your mic stand. Hypeddit, which you may have come across for promoting tracks, works on listeners online.
- No app for your audience

- One code that never changes
Why GigTag
What GigTag does for performers that Hypeddit is not for
Hypeddit promotes recordings, a job GigTag does not do. GigTag works on the audience you have already drawn to a venue. A tag on your stand lets them request songs, save your next gig and send a booking enquiry, so a good night leaves something behind for the act.
- 1
It works on people already there
Every gig puts you in front of listeners you did not have to advertise to. GigTag gives them a code to scan and a page to use on the spot. Hypeddit is built to find new listeners online through adverts, gates and pre-saves, which is a separate task from serving a room.
- 2
Requests make the set a conversation
On Pro, the audience chooses from your song list and you see each request in a live queue on your phone. A download gate rewards an online action with a track. A request rewards a person in the room with the song they asked for, played while they are still there.
- 3
Live income, kept by you
Your page takes booking enquiries on the free plan, and GigTag takes no commission on bookings. Pro adds invoices clients pay online. Fans can tip into your own Stripe or Ziina account, with 0% going to GigTag. The page is concerned with what a performance earns.
- 4
Followers gained in person
People who scan can follow your socials and open your music links, including a Hypeddit smart link, and add your next gig to their calendar. They do it in the browser, with no app and no account. A stranger at the bar can become a follower before your last song.
- 5
A free plan to start with
Your tag design and print file, your page, your links, every gig and residency and the booking form are all on the free plan, for one act. A producer playing a first live show can turn up with a working tag and decide about Pro, and requests, later.

Finding listeners
Keep Hypeddit for this
GigTag is not a marketplace and does not find clients for you. It works with the people already at your gig, through the tag on your stand.
HypedditIts site describes adverts on Spotify, YouTube and TikTok and a place on its own charts and new releases pages.
The exchange with a fan
A request made and played in the room
A fan asks for a song from your list on Pro and you play it. They can also follow your socials from the same page.
HypedditA download gate gives a fan your track in return for a like, repost, comment or follow on a chosen platform.
Before a release
Your next gig, saved to a calendar
Before a gig, you add the date and check your song list. The audience sees your next gig on your page and can save it.
HypedditPre-saves let fans save upcoming music on Spotify, Apple Music or Deezer, and its site says they can collect fan email addresses.
Other artists
Bandmates and more than one act per account
Band members can join a band on GigTag, and Pro lets one account hold more than one act for players with several projects.
HypedditA promotion exchange lets artists trade support for each other's download gates, which its site presents as artists backing fellow artists.
Earning from it
Invoices on Pro, and no commission on bookings
On Pro you invoice clients and they pay online. Fans can tip into your own Stripe or Ziina account, and GigTag takes 0%.

Hypeddit or GigTag
Where GigTag is different from Hypeddit
The audience you already have
Hypeddit's tools go looking for new listeners online. GigTag works with listeners you have already won: the people in the venue tonight. They scan the tag on your stand and can follow your socials and music links, see your next gig and add it to their calendar. GigTag is not a marketplace or an agency, and it does not go looking for anyone on your behalf. It helps you keep the audience in front of you.
Requests instead of gates
A download gate asks a fan to do something for the artist in return for a track. A song request runs the other way: the fan asks, and you play. On GigTag Pro, requests come from your song list, or from anywhere if you open them up, and they queue live on your phone. It is a small exchange, and it happens while you are still on stage.
Bookings, not plays
Hypeddit counts streams and followers. For a gigging act, the number that pays is bookings. GigTag puts a booking enquiry form on your page, on the free plan, and on Pro lets you send invoices in your own design that clients pay online. Fans can also tip by card or Apple Pay into your own Stripe or Ziina account, and GigTag takes 0%.
A night with GigTag
An electronic duo playing a live bar set
You make tracks at home and, once a month, play them live as a duo in the back room of a bar. Your online numbers are one thing. Tonight is a small room and a small PA. The tag hangs on the mic stand between your two tables of gear. People scan it while you set up, the page opens in the browser, and they can follow your socials and open your music links without asking how to spell your name.
You have put your released tracks in your song list. On Pro, the room requests the ones it knows, and the queue on your phone shapes the second half of the set. Both of you are on the act, since band members can join. Your next date is on the page, and the people who want to come back save it to their calendars. Before closing, the bar's manager sends a booking enquiry about a regular night, which is how a monthly slot can become a weekly residency on your page.
About Hypeddit
What is Hypeddit?
Hypeddit offers music promotion services and tools for independent artists, producers and bands. Its site says you need no label, manager or technical skills to use it. One of its tools is the download gate: a fan gets a download of your track in return for a like, repost, comment or follow on a platform such as SoundCloud or Spotify. Alongside that are smart links, pre-saves and music adverts.
In practice you choose a track and pick a tool. A smart link gives fans one-click access on Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud and other services. A pre-save collects followers and email addresses before release day. Its site also describes adverts for Spotify, YouTube and TikTok, a spot on its own charts and new releases pages, and a promotion exchange where artists support each other's tracks.

How Hypeddit works
- 1
Choose your track. You start with a song. Its site describes the process as uploading your track and then telling Hypeddit what you want the campaign to achieve.
- 2
Pick a goal and a tool. You choose what you are after, such as streams, followers or downloads, and the tool to match: an advert, a download gate, a smart link or a pre-save.
- 3
Share the link. Fans who open a gate or a smart link take the action you asked for, such as a follow or a repost, and get the download or reach your music.
- 4
Follow the results. Its site says its tools capture statistics about your fans and can collect email addresses, so you learn who responded and can tell them about later releases.
Who Hypeddit is for
Producers sharing downloads. Download gates are aimed at artists who give tracks away in return for support, typically on SoundCloud. The fan gets the file, and the artist gains a like, repost, comment or follow on the platforms that matter to them.
Artists preparing a release. Pre-saves and its Lifetime Fans feature are for the run-up to a release and what follows. Its site describes fans saving upcoming music on Spotify, Apple Music or Deezer and having future releases added to their libraries.
Artists who want adverts handled. Its site describes itself as built for independent artists with busy lives. The music adverts for Spotify, YouTube and TikTok are for people who want campaigns run for them without first learning the advertising platforms themselves.
The verdict
GigTag or Hypeddit: which should you choose?
The bottom line
If you perform, choose GigTag for your gigs. The strongest reason is that it makes use of an audience you already have, giving each person who scans a way to request, follow, return and book. Hypeddit is still the tool for growing streams and followers for recorded music, and anyone who only releases is better served by it. A producer or band that does both should run both, and link the smart link from the GigTag page.
They do not compete, so use whichever matches the work. A producer who never plays out has no need for a tag on a mic stand. A covers band has little use for a download gate. If you do both, releasing tracks and playing shows, run Hypeddit for the release and put its smart link among the music links on your GigTag page.
- Step 1
Promote the track online
Use Hypeddit for what it is built for: getting a release in front of new listeners with a smart link, a pre-save or a download gate.
- Step 2
Bring the track to the gig
Add the song to your GigTag song list and put its smart link among your music links, so a live audience can request it and find it later.
- Step 3
Let the room respond
Hang the tag on your stand, take requests on Pro, and afterwards check which songs were asked for and whether any booking enquiries have arrived in your account.

Is GigTag or Hypeddit the right choice for a band that plays every weekend?
For a band that plays every weekend, GigTag is the one that earns its keep at each gig. It gives the audience song requests on Pro, your next dates and a booking enquiry form from one scan, with no commission on bookings. Hypeddit is built for promoting recordings online, which matters when you have a release to push.
Why would an artist who uses Hypeddit also want GigTag?
Because online promotion and a live show reach people in different ways. Hypeddit works on listeners through adverts, smart links and gates. GigTag works on the people standing in front of you: they scan a tag, with no app, and can follow you, request a song on Pro, save your next gig or enquire about booking.
Is GigTag a Hypeddit alternative?
Not for promoting recordings. GigTag is not a streaming service or a music store, and promoting tracks is not what it is for. It is a QR code on a tag for a live act, with a page for requests, dates, links and bookings. Choose it for gigs, and a tool like Hypeddit for releases.
Can I share my Hypeddit smart link at a gig?
Yes. Add it to the music links on your GigTag page. Someone who scans the tag on your stand can then open your Hypeddit link and find your track on their own service. The GigTag page itself opens in the phone's browser, with no app, no account and nothing to download.
Does GigTag help me get more fans like Hypeddit?
In a different way. Hypeddit's site describes reaching new listeners online. GigTag helps the people at your gig stay in touch: they can follow your socials and music links, see your next gig and weekly residencies, and add them to their calendar. It is not a marketplace or an agency, so it works with the audience you bring.
I use Hypeddit as a producer. Is GigTag for me?
If you play in front of people, yes. A solo act, duo or band can use it, and the page takes requests on Pro, shows your next dates and collects booking enquiries. If you only release music and never perform, GigTag has little to offer you, and we would sooner say so.
How do I get more out of a small gig?
Give the audience something to do besides listen. With a GigTag tag on your stand they can follow your socials, open your music links, add your next gig to their calendar and send a booking enquiry. On Pro they can request songs. A small room that does those things is worth more than its size suggests.
Can I add my own tracks to a GigTag song list?
Yes. The song list is yours to write, so it can hold originals, covers or both. On Pro, fans who scan your tag request from that list, and you can also open requests so they can ask for anything. You manage the list from the website or the GigTag app whenever your set changes.
Will GigTag work for a producer's first live show?
Yes. The free plan gives you a tag design and print file, a page with your links, your gig dates and a booking enquiry form, for one act. That is enough for a first show. If you want the room to request tracks, add Pro. Your Hypeddit smart links can sit among your music links.
Does the audience have to create an account to request a song?
No. On GigTag there is no account, no app and nothing to download for the audience. They scan the tag, your page opens in the browser, and on Pro they choose a song from your list. The request goes into your live queue. Only you, the act, have an account.
