GigTag

Tips and digital tip jars

EZTipr gets you tipped. GigTag gets you requests and bookings.

At a gig you need the audience to do more than pay you. You want their song requests while you play, their eyes on your next date, and their booking enquiry before they go home. GigTag gives a live act all of that from one code on the mic stand. EZTipr, which brought you here, is about the payment.

Why GigTag

Five reasons to hang a GigTag beside EZTipr

EZTipr sends a guest to their payment app. GigTag keeps them with your act for a minute longer: a request, a date saved, a follow, an enquiry. It is built for musicians, on a tag in your own design. GigTag takes card tips too, and your EZTipr page can stay for fans who prefer their apps.

  1. 1

    Built around your music

GigTag is made for a solo performer, a duo or a band on a stage. The page is about your music: your song list, your gigs, your links. EZTipr serves everyone who earns gratuities at work, performers included. GigTag starts from what a musician needs between the first song and the last.

  2. 2

    The crowd joins the set

A fan picks a song from your list and it lands in a live queue on your phone. You call it out, play it, and the table that asked is with you for the night. Requests are part of Pro. They give people a reason to scan.

  3. 3

    Tonight's listener, next month's audience

Every gig and weekly residency is on your page, and a fan can add them to their calendar with the phone already in their hand. Your socials and music links are there too. A payment page ends with a payment. Your GigTag page can end with a date in a diary.

  4. 4

    Private parties, straight to you

The man who asks if you do parties can scan the tag and send a booking enquiry on the spot. It reaches you on the website or the GigTag app. On Pro you invoice in your own design and the client pays online. GigTag takes no commission on bookings.

  5. 5

    One printed code on stage

The tag on the mic stand can carry everything, because your page has room for links. Add your EZTipr address and one scan leads to requests, dates, enquiries and your payment page. The code never changes, so you print the tag once. Tips can also be taken on the GigTag page itself.

In short

EZTipr and GigTag, in four lines

  • EZTipr gives tipped workers and performers one page and QR code that opens the guest's own payment app.
  • GigTag is built for live acts: requests in a live queue, your gigs, your links, a booking form.
  • One GigTag scan opens in the browser, with no app or account, and the code never changes.
  • Our recommendation: make GigTag the code on your stand for requests, bookings and card tips, and link EZTipr for fans who tip through payment apps.

GigTag is built for live acts only: a solo performer, a duo or a band, with a page about the act and its music.

After the scan

GigTag

The fan sees your act's page in the browser, with song requests, your next gig, your links and a booking enquiry form.

EZTiprThe guest sees your tip page, taps a payment app, and that app opens with you set as the recipient.

A EZTipr alternative

Where GigTag is different from EZTipr

  1. Made for tipped work, made for acts

EZTipr serves anyone who is tipped at work, so its page is about one thing: getting the guest to the right payment app. GigTag is made only for live acts. The page a fan opens has your song list for requests, your next gig and weekly residencies, your socials and music links, and a booking enquiry form. It is set up for a solo act, a duo or a band, with band members able to join.

  2. What happens between songs

With a tip page, the scan ends in a payment app. With GigTag, the scan often starts a conversation with the stage. A fan requests a song from your list, it appears in the live queue on your phone, and you play it or skip it. Another fan checks where you are next week and adds it to their calendar. Requests are part of GigTag Pro.

  3. Payment apps or a card tip

EZTipr points guests to payment apps they already have, which suits a US crowd. GigTag tips work differently: the fan pays by card or Apple Pay on your page, the money goes to your own Stripe account, or your own Ziina account in the UAE, and GigTag takes 0%. If your crowd prefers its payment apps, GigTag can work beside a tip page.

A night with GigTag

A taproom set for a solo singer

The brewery taproom is loud and friendly, and you are in the corner with a guitar and a small PA. Your GigTag tag is on the mic stand. A group at the long table scans it between rounds. Your page opens in the browser and they scroll your song list, argue about it, and send a request. It lands in the live queue on your phone. You finish the song you are on and play theirs, and the table cheers.

After the first set a man comes up to ask whether you do private parties. You point at the tag. He scans it, fills in the booking enquiry form and it is in your GigTag app before he is back at his seat. Two others check your gigs and add next month's date to their calendars. Two tables tip by card on the page, and a regular uses the link to your tip page. All of it came through the one tag.

About EZTipr

What is EZTipr?

EZTipr describes itself as a link-in-bio page whose whole purpose is tips. It is aimed at people who earn tips at work: bartenders, baristas, servers, stylists, valets, drivers and hotel staff, with performers on the list too. You get a personal tip page and a QR code for it. The page shows the payment apps you accept, and its site names Cash App, Venmo, PayPal and Zelle among them.

A guest scans the code or taps your link, picks the app they use, and that app opens with you already filled in as the recipient. The money moves from their account to yours, and the site says EZTipr never handles it. You can style the page with themes, a photo and social links, and order the code on pins, magnets and stickers. There are team pages for workplaces.

How EZTipr works

  1. 1

Claim your page. You sign up and get a personal tip page at an address with your username in it. Its site presents this as a quick job, done from a phone.

  2. 2

Add your payment apps. You list the apps you can be paid through. The site names Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle and others, and you can style the page with a theme, a photo and social links.

  3. 3

Show the code. Each page has a QR code. You can print it, post it by the till or the stage, or wear it, and the site offers it on pins, magnets and stickers.

  4. 4

The guest pays you. A guest scans, taps the app they use, and it opens with your details filled in. They enter the tip and send it from their account to yours.

Who EZTipr is for

  • Bar and restaurant staff. Bartenders, baristas and servers are the first people its site names. They are tipped many times a shift by customers who carry cards and phones, and a code by the till or on a badge gives those customers a way to tip.

  • Drivers, stylists and hotel staff. The same page is offered to stylists and barbers, valets, hotel staff and rideshare or delivery drivers. What they share is one-to-one service and a customer who would like to tip but has no cash on them.

  • Teams and workplaces. For organisations, its site describes branded pages for a whole team, QR codes ordered in bulk and more than one administrator. That is aimed at a business that wants every member of staff to have a tip page.

The verdict

GigTag or EZTipr: which should you choose?

The bottom line

For anyone who performs live, GigTag is the code to put on the stand. The strongest reason is fit: it is built for an act, with requests in a live queue, your dates, your links and a booking enquiry form, where EZTipr is built for one payment. If your audience tips through US payment apps, EZTipr still does that job, since GigTag tips are by card or Apple Pay. Link the first from the second and use both.

For a US musician whose crowd uses payment apps, use both. Let EZTipr do the tipping through those apps, and let GigTag do requests, dates, bookings and card tips. Add your EZTipr link to your GigTag page and one tag on the mic stand covers everything. If your crowd pays by card, GigTag's own tips may be all you need.

  1. Step 1

Set up the tip page first

If your crowd pays with Cash App, Venmo or Zelle, make your EZTipr page and add the apps you use. That part is separate from GigTag.

  2. Step 2

    Build your GigTag page

Add your song list, your gigs and residencies, and your links. Design the tag and put it on the mic stand in place of a loose sign.

  3. Step 3

    Add the tip link

Paste your EZTipr page address into the links on your GigTag page, so one scan of the tag leads to requests, dates, enquiries and your EZTipr page.

Questions

EZTipr and GigTag: what people ask

Something else? Ask us. A person reads every message.

Is GigTag better than EZTipr for a working musician?

For the performing side, yes: GigTag is built for it. One scan gives the audience your song list for requests, your gigs and residencies, your links and a booking enquiry form, and you manage a live queue from your phone. For tips through US payment apps, keep EZTipr. GigTag tips are by card or Apple Pay, with 0% taken by GigTag.

Why add GigTag if EZTipr already gives me a QR code?

Because the two codes lead to different things. An EZTipr code leads to a payment app. A GigTag code leads to your act: requests, dates people can save, links to follow and a way to book you, with invoices on Pro. Your GigTag page can link to EZTipr, so you can show one code and keep both.

What is EZTipr used for?

EZTipr gives people who earn tips a personal tip page and a QR code. A guest scans it, chooses a payment app such as Cash App, Venmo, PayPal or Zelle, and pays you directly in that app. Its site lists bartenders, servers, stylists, drivers and performers among the people it is for.

Can musicians use EZTipr and GigTag at the same gig?

Yes. EZTipr handles the tip by sending the guest to a payment app. GigTag handles the rest of the scan: song requests, your gigs and residencies, your links and booking enquiries. Put your EZTipr link on your GigTag page and the audience only needs to scan the tag on your mic stand.

Does GigTag accept Venmo or Cash App tips like EZTipr?

No. GigTag tips are paid by card or Apple Pay into the performer's own Stripe account, or Ziina account in the UAE, in every country. GigTag takes 0% of them. If your audience tips with US payment apps, keep a tip page such as EZTipr for that and link to it from your GigTag page.

What does my audience have to install to use EZTipr or GigTag?

Its site says an EZTipr tip page needs no app install and no new account, and the guest then pays in a payment app they already use. A GigTag page also opens in the phone's browser after a scan, with no app, no account and nothing to download for the fan.

Can I have one QR code for tips and song requests?

Yes, by using the GigTag code as the one people scan. Your GigTag page handles song requests, dates and booking enquiries, and carries a link to your tip page. A tip can also be left on the GigTag page itself, by card or Apple Pay, into your own Stripe or Ziina account.

Does EZTipr work for a band as well as a solo performer?

Its site describes personal tip pages and team pages for workplaces, so ask EZTipr how it would set up a band. On GigTag a band is an act with its own page and tag, band members can join it, and Pro lets one account hold more than one act.

What do I need to bring to a gig to use GigTag?

The tag and your phone. The tag sits on the mic stand and carries a QR code that never changes. Your phone shows the live queue of requests in the GigTag app or on the website. The audience needs only a phone camera and a browser, nothing else.

Is there a free way to try GigTag?

Yes. The free plan includes the custom tag design and print file, your page, your links, every gig and residency, the booking enquiry form and one act. You can print the tag yourself. Song requests, tips, invoices and more than one act are part of Pro.
